SUPPORT / SETUP / COMPATIBILITY
Let’s get
connected.
Your workflows live on your computer. Here’s how to bring them to NodeUI.
What you need
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.
- A separate computer running ComfyUI, reachable from your device.
- The models, custom nodes, and compute resources needed by your workflows.
NodeUI edits and controls workflows; your computer runs them. NodeUI does not supply a hosted GPU or include third-party model or API credits. The app is currently in development.
Connect your computer
- Start ComfyUI on your computer and confirm that its normal web interface works.
- For a local connection, put your computer and device on the same trusted network. Configure ComfyUI to listen on your network interface, and allow only the access needed through your computer’s firewall. Consult the ComfyUI setup instructions for your installation.
- Open NodeUI. In the walkthrough, enter a recognizable server name and its reachable address, including the port if needed. A typical format is
http://YOUR-COMPUTER-ADDRESS:8188. - Allow Local Network access when iOS asks, then connect. You can also add or reconnect servers from Settings → Servers.
- Open Workflows and choose a saved workflow, import a JSON file, or start a new graph.
For access away from home, use a trusted VPN or a properly protected HTTPS endpoint. Plain HTTP does not encrypt workflow contents or credentials in transit. Do not expose an unprotected ComfyUI server directly to the public internet.
Explore first: choose Set up later in the walkthrough to explore offline. Generation and server files require a connected computer.
Install the optional companion
The NodeUI companion is a small ComfyUI custom-node extension. It enables full folder listings, thumbnails, uploads, server-side URL downloads, and reuse of output files. Standard ComfyUI APIs work without it, with a more limited file browser.
Manual installation — Windows or macOS
- Download and extract the companion ZIP.
- Copy the extracted
comfymobile_bridgefolder intoYOUR-COMFYUI-FOLDER/custom_nodes/. Choose the ComfyUI backend folder containingmain.py. - If you already have the companion, keep a backup outside
custom_nodesso ComfyUI cannot load both copies. - Wait until your generation queue is idle, then restart ComfyUI once.
- Reconnect in NodeUI and refresh File Browser → Locations.
The internal folder name comfymobile_bridge is retained for compatibility. The companion uses ComfyUI’s existing port and does not start a separate server.
Optional installers
Keep the installer and companion ZIP in the same folder. The installers preserve an existing companion in a timestamped backup outside custom_nodes; they do not stop or restart ComfyUI.
Windows PowerShell:
.\install-windows.ps1 -ComfyUIPath 'C:\path\to\ComfyUI'macOS Terminal:
bash install-macos.sh '/path/to/ComfyUI'Review downloaded scripts before running them. You can always use the manual installation instead.
A few useful controls
- Pan: drag the graph. Zoom: pinch.
- Edit a node: tap it to open its inspector.
- Move or resize: touch and hold a node, choose the action, then confirm or cancel the preview.
- Connect: tap compatible ports, or touch and hold a port and choose Connect port.
- Save: use workflow actions to Save or Save As. Export JSON to keep a separate copy.
- Look and feel: open Settings for appearance, highlight color, OLED black, and alternate icons.
Troubleshooting
The app cannot connect
Check that ComfyUI is running, the address and port are correct, and the device can reach that computer. On iOS, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network. Check VPN, Wi-Fi isolation, firewall, and HTTPS certificate settings. A device’s localhost refers to the device itself, not your computer.
Folders, uploads, or downloads are missing
Install or update the companion, restart ComfyUI when idle, then refresh Locations. Without the companion, the app can show only files indexed by the standard ComfyUI APIs. A server running an older companion may need an update for newer transfer features.
A workflow does not run
Check the same workflow in desktop ComfyUI. Install its required models and custom nodes there. NodeUI cannot execute arbitrary JavaScript frontend extensions. This version can edit nested node groups, but they must be expanded in desktop ComfyUI before execution. Premium templates may require third-party credits.
A provider download is restricted
Some Hugging Face or Civitai files need your provider account, permission, or acceptance of the model’s license. Add an appropriate key under Settings → Download keys. Keys are stored in the device Keychain and sent to the selected server when needed for the download. Only connect to servers you trust.
How do I remove my data or keys?
Use Remove beside a key in Settings → Download keys before uninstalling; Keychain items can survive app deletion. Deleting the app removes its local app-container data, subject to device backups. Remove server files separately on the server. Files you exported to Photos or Files remain there until you delete them. See the privacy choices for more detail.
Talk to a person.
Email nodeui@guhlstudio.com for help, feedback, or privacy requests. Include your NodeUI version, iOS/iPadOS version, ComfyUI version, and a description of what happened.
Please remove API keys, credentials, personal server addresses, and private media from screenshots or logs before sending them. We will never need your Apple Account password or full provider API key to answer a support question.
NodeUI is independently developed by Austin Guhl / Guhl Design Studio and is not an official ComfyUI product.
